PERFROMANCE OF MULTIPHASE COLUMN FLOTATION BUBBLE REGIME ON WASTE PAPER INK REMOVAL
Research to remove ink from waste paper as raw material for white paper has been carried out. Deinking of used paper is done using a multiphase column flotator. The flotation column has a volume of 10 Liters with a diameter of 94 mm. Bubbles are produced from air which is passed by the stainless ste...

Bubbles are produced from air which is passed by the stainless steel porous media / sparger with a diameter of 1.27 cm and a length of 2.54 cm and a hole size of 0.5 ?m. Doses of chemicals used are 2% NaOH, 2% Sodium Silicate, 0.8% H2O2 and 1% Oleic Acid (on the basis of a waste paper oven dry weight). Homogenisation and flotation processes are carried out at 40oC. The good flotation process performance is generally obtained at 1.5% slurry consistency conditions with an air flow rate of 2 L / min for 15 minutes. The best deinking process performance values include brightness increase, deinking efficiency, brightness selectivity and deinking selectivity obtained in these conditions with successive values of 4.65%, 5.88%, 54.03% and 4.10%, respectively. The best value of fiber loss, ash / filler loss and yield were obtained under the same conditions but for 5 minutes flotation process with values of 7.37%, 12.70% and 89.89%, respectively. The best reduction of the Effective Residual Ink Concentration (ERIC) was obtained at a slurry consistency condition of 0.8% and an air flow rate of 2 L / min for 15 minutes with values of 46.40 ppm. text |
