Summary: | Development of Technology and Information has influenced the education sector by electronic learning as learning media. Information and Communication Technologies Center of the Ministry of Education and Culture Republic of Indonesia (Pustekkom Kemendikbud) has developed a free learning portal named Rumah Belajar since 2011. Based on the internal evaluation, Pustekkom is designing a new version of Rumah Belajar to increase the ease of use of Rumah Belajar. Based on a preliminary study to users of Rumah Belajar and high school/ vocational high school students, difficulty in using Rumah Belajar is the priority issue to be solved.
Usability evaluation is carried out to identify problems in the user interface of Rumah Belajar through usability testing and usability inquiry. Usability testing is done by performance measurement and retrospective testing techniques. Usability inquiry is done by using the Questionnaire for User Interface Satisfaction (QUIS). The study is conducted on 16 participants, which are grouped based on the frequency of internet use, namely high frequency and moderate frequency. The results shows that process of taking a class in Kelas Maya is not effective with a success rate of less than 70% for all participants. 29 usability problems are priorities to be fixed, namely problems related to poor information readability, components such as buttons and text that are difficult to understand, inadequate error messages and system feedback, inefficient operations, and confusing navigation. This study resulted in 28 proposed improvements for Rumah Belajar. |
