Summary: | Vocational education in Indonesia, including higher vocational education (polytechnic), is important for industry development. However, the number of higher vocational education institutions had only reached 6%. The president wants a massive polytechnic development, because in the RPJMN (National Medium and Long Term Development Plan) for 2020-2024, human resources will be the focus of development. In the moment when government put much attention on polytechnic, Politeknik Manufaktur Astra or Polman Astra get an opportunity to expand its capacity due to donation from Astra to build new campus in 5Ha land in the mid of industrial park in Cikarang. This investment as a social responsibility of Astra driven by its corporate philosophy: to be an asset to the nation. The right momentum and generous support from PT Astra International Tbk. bring a challenge to Polman Astra to define its business model appropriately as a basis of transformation to become a strategic institution.
The research on how to use the right model of BMC, explore various critics about BMC and then come up with propose model of BMC that fit to Polman Astra and use it to reformulate Polman Astra Business Model. The proposed BMC Polman Astra consists of 11 building blocks instead of 9 building blocks in the original model BMC. The new 2 building blocks are Mission & Values and also Impact and Output Measures. In this proposed BMC, definition of customer also changed to include Co-Creator and Beneficiaries. Based on this model, in this research BMC of Polman Astra reformulated to be proposed as a blue print of transformation. Proper formulations of BMC depend on understanding about definition and the logic concept of BMC. |
