The beautiful nature at the foot of Mount Slamet is indeed very potential to continue to be developed into a mainstay tourist destination, but not yet supported by sufficient accommodation facilities. Therefore, the existence of adequate hospitality facilities is considered a must and the author plans a Trekking Hotel Complex in the Taman Rancah, Mendelem, Belik, Pemalang. The hotel complex is planned to be in a natural tourist park that offers a variety of outdoor sports arenas, such as rock climbing, mountain climbing, and outbound arenas. The hotel complex will be built with facilities including accommodation with 30 rooms, a restaurant with a capacity of 90 peoples, a rental place for hiking equipment, a park, and a parking area for 20 cars and 30 motorbikes. The hilly topography conditions require the design of buildings that follow contours as much as possible to avoid the cut & fill process which will burden the construction costs. The concept of designing this hotel complex departs from the experience of space experienced by hikers when in natural exploration. The experience of walking through cliffs, seeing hilltops, sheltering under trees, and staying overnight in campgrounds is abstracted into tiered landscape design with configurations campgrounds-like and mountain symbolism on building masses. Regarding potential users as nature lovers, buildings are designed with environmentally friendly principles using natural and local materials. To support sustainable hotel operations, space flexibility is applied to the guest room designs so that space capacity can be adjusted based on trends in hotel room rentals. text |
