Description
Summary:An international airport has become necessity for Banjarbaru City. Many kind of potential within the city or province can be used in designing process. An Image of a city should be first seen when guest first arrive in the city. An airport terminal must be the first place people arrive at when using aviation transportation to reach the city. Therefore, an airport should contribute to the image built within the city. Other than contribution to image of a city, an international airport also have a lot of standards that must be fulfilled. Security and Comfort are aspects that should be given extra attention when designing an international airport. A good circulation system is necessary to support other functions of an airport. To answer every design problem, Mamanda concepts comes out to be the most relevant solution. As a traditional theater art for Banjar Tribe, it holds a lot of culture which can give a proper image about Banjarbaru City. Laung as a characteristical headband of Mamanda theater art becomes the inspiration of building shape. Splitting zones between departure and arrival into different floors becomes a solution in order to create an efficient vertical circulation. Necessity of wide span shelter can be solved using the combination of three-pointed arch and surface-active structure system. The application of rainwater harvesting system to the shelter is being used to fulfill water uses inside the terminal. The combination of roofing material creates beautiful patterns of Sasirangan fabric which is a pride of South Kalimantan Province’s culture. Dividing circulation into two different level creates an efficient solution for circulation. One way circulation and dividing main zones into different level makes a good solution for wayfinding. Main attraction of the building is being shown off using massive void in the center of the wide span building.
