Summary: | Calculating the optimum rate of a gas well is an important thing to do because gas rate will decide the well economy or not. Other than that gas rate will influence the condition of the gas well during production. Overly low gas rate maybe not profitable because the revenue can’t compensate the well cost, this is commonly called economic limit. Overly low gas rate also can cause liquid accumuation in the wellbore that inhibit the gas flow to the surface, this condition called liquid loading. Exorbitant flow rate also can cause some problems in the wellbore that is water coning and san intrusion. Water coning is the condition where water also produced exaggerately that inhibit the production of the gas from the wellbore. Sand intrusion is the condition where sand also produced with the gas because the gas flow rate too high that cause the damage in the formation reservoir. In this study the optimum flow rate of a gas well will be calculated. Determined optimum flow rate can used as a reference where the well profitable or not. Furthermore this determined optimum flow rate can used as the flow rate limit during the gas production to prevent some problems that might happen. Prevent the problems can save the cost because do not need to do additional work to produce the gas. This flow rate limit also become the first mitigation to predict what problem can possibly happen to the wellbore so that the operator can determined the proper operation to reduce the impact of the problem. |
