INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/42739 ABSTRACT - Strategy is one of the main key for a company to achieve success in competitive environment. Transportation has become irreplaceable needs for industrial, social, trade and economic development in Indonesia. As a state owned company engaged in the field of transportation and is trusted for people in Indonesia, PT. KAI (Persero) must provide the best service and experience in order to be peoples first transportation choice, enjoyed, used frequently and increase its own profits. The MCO unit is a unit that incorporated under the responsibility of the Department and the directors of Human Capital and General Affairs at PT. KAI (Persero) – (D6). MCO unit has the main duties and responsibilities to planning, evaluating and coordinating the implementation of the D6 work program. The implementation of the program are: analysis of workload, formation and design of HR organizations and business processes and the development of organizations. To perform and execute the task, the MCO unit must first understand the goals, objectives, mission and vision of the company in order to form a strategy that can be understood by headquarter, its subsidiaries and partner companies. This paper will try to evaluate and analyze MCO Unit’s strategy execution capability by using the approach developed by Gary L Neilson et al, which was reported in their Harvard Business Review article “The Secret to Successful Strategy Execution”. By involving three departments under MCO Unit, which was represented and employees participated in data collection. The results of evaluation, shows that there are rooms for improvement still can be pursued in the area of Decision Rights, Structure, Information Flow, and Motivators. Author took initiatives to suggest improvements and validate the results by means of Focus Group Discussion with the MCO unit as subject matter experts. text
