Description
Summary:Culture in a country is very influential in the country's artworks. In the field of animation, it can be said that each animation maker will carry a certain level of cultural identity in each animation work as a form of existence of cultural representations around him. The method used uses a qualitative approach with three methods, interviews with creators, focus group discussions (FGD) with animated viewers, and content analysis using the Mayring's Step Model Inductive Category Development analysis model. The research objects used in this study were 5 animation works made by Indonesian local studios that were recommended by respondents in the FGDs that were felt to have a lot of Indonesian cultural identities in animation. The results obtained were 17 cultural categories representing Indonesian cultural identity in the 5 animated titles studied. In these 17 categories, 375 forms were found that included 4 elements of animation, visual, audio, motion, and narrative elements. From the perspective of the audience in the FGD, it was stated that in general Indonesian animation works had characteristics in their eyes, especially from audio elements that sounded very typical of Indonesia. While from the creator's point of view it is known that their life experience in Indonesia is very influential on how the animation works they make. These experiences are formed from life experiences from birth to adulthood, the cultural background that surrounds them, and the social conditions of the people they see every day. All forms of culture entered by the creator can be felt by the audience because they have the same life experience as the creator. This form is a representation of everyday life found during Indonesian society both in modern times, traditional times or fantasy which includes tangible and intangible signs, verbal and nonverbal signs that reflect the characteristics of Indonesian culture.
