However, the advancement at those technology is not followed by the battery technology. Therefore, it affects the duration of flight of rotary wing drone that is less than 30 minutes which is relatively short. Therefore, it is needed a system that is able to increase significantly the duration of flight of rotary wing drone especially in the enterprise class. The developed system is combining the energy sources that have high energy density which is gasoline as the primary source and lithium polymer (LiPo) battery as the reserve source and acting as the fail back-up system. In other word, the developed system adopting the hybrid concept. In designing and implementing the on-board hybrid generator, there is a need to create a mechanism to control the voltage output and the current output of the system in order to make the system able to operate in constant voltage (CV) and constant current (CC). By able to control the voltage output and current output of the system, we can operate the system in the operating point of the drone. The method used to control the voltage output and current output of the system is close loop control using PID which is implemented in microcontroller. It is also needed to regulate the behavior of the system to ease the user in operating the system. The behavior of the system is modeled in a state diagram and implemented using finite state machine (FSM) in microcontroller. Besides, also implemented on-board starter mechanism, so the system able to be started remotely. The evaluation of the voltage output and current output control and system FSM had been done and can be used as reference for further development of the technology. text
