Where the forerunner of Wonosobo began with the emergence of Kyai Walik, Kyai Karim and Kyai Kolodete who took the process of islamization. Al Manshur Mosque is a part of Islamic treasures in Wonosobo. Officially, the mosque was established in 1825 which coincided with the establishment of Wonosobo. Defined as a historical mosque and also being part of Javanese-Islamic culture, its just certainly brought some influences on social, cultural and political aspects. In addition, the mosque has through several times of transformation architectural phase. So, there are some possibilities that when Al Manshur Mosque get restorated, it’s just because to bring something back from the past to the present as a great value for the society.
Formly as a descriptive qualitative research, its aims to collect, consider and interpret various information from the Al Manshur Wonosobo Mosque in relation to architectural values and meanings. Through an archaeological approach, the architectural elements of the mosque examined by some perspective of morphologically, technologically, stylistically, and contextually. Moreover, there are some cultural and historical perspectives that also used in these research.
These research results are that Al Manshur Mosque has two periods of establishment. The first one, it’s around the 16th century by Kyai Walik, and the second one in 1825 by Kyai Manshur. Both of these periods had to face the pressure from kolonial that led to the desecration of the mosque by moving it from the west side of the square even though it was in accordance with the Javanese cosmological system. There are three main value that significantly founded in the mosques are the value of Islamic sacredness, the value of social humanitarian, and the value of the struggle as cultural identity. The meaning of the Al Manshur Mosque, physically, it’s become a place for every development side of Islamic culture in Wonosobo which takes a role in shaping the society. Metaphysically, the mosque has become a part of Javanese cosmology that united people and able to collect the spirit of social in the context of histories. Thus, the architectural transformation through restoration at the Al Manshur Mosque, is an effort to raise public awareness about the complexity of the value and meaning of it. Which makes the mosque

as the basis of historical and cultural narratives that in the past was not as easy as setting up mosques today. |
