Summary: | The real time data availability is very important for analysis and decision making process in oil and gas industry. The main equipment in this industry is oil producer wells. PT X is the biggest oil and gas industry in Indonesia which has more than 5,000 wells on-shore scattered in 13 Areas. The current real time data for online well monitoring with supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) technology only cover 30% of wells population while the 70% wells data is obtained with manual monitoring using operator activity in monthly period.
The research objectives are to identify the impact of manual well monitoring on oil production loss and selecting the best alternatives of SCADA technology for online well monitoring for additional 1,500 oil wells and preventing oil production loss due to slower decision making. There are five alternatives for the technology such as: radio trunking, licensed frequency radio, fiber optic, GPRS/GSM and Satellite. The research uses Simple Multi Attribute Rating Technique (SMART) as a tool for decision making process.
The manual well monitoring in PT.X is one of major contributor for oil production loss based on the root cause analysis. The licensed frequency radio modem is the selected technology based on the SMART selection process with the highest aggregate score 4.20
The implementation plan will be focus on stakeholder analysis, project team charter and resource plan, work breakdown structure and contracting strategy, risk and contingency plan, and project schedule estimate.
