The amount of money spent was very high because of road damages happened frequently before the expected time. Overloaded commercial vehicles are the main cause of these road damages. Overloaded vehicles (2-3 times of normal capacity) could be seen more often in public roads, especially freight vehicles. Therefore, a system that can prevent the operation of overlaoded vehicles has begun to be developed. The overload prevention system on vehicles was developed using a preventive approach. Before the vehicles started to operate, the system will check and prevent the vehicles from moving if it is indicated to be overload. The overload prevention system consists of spring module and cabin module that are connected with bluetooth connection. The overload prevention system will measure the weight of loads in the vehicle. If the system detects that the vehicles are overload, an alarm will be ringing and the system will cut the current to the relay. The relay connection to electrical system of the vehicles is cut, so the vehicles can’t be operated. In this research, a prototype of overload prevention module has been designed, manufactured, and installed on a leaf spring of Mitsubishi Jetstar car. Tests for this prototype of overload prevention module has also been successfuly carried out for 10 times on a Mitsubishi Jetstar car, but it hasn’t been tested on freight vehicles yet. Based on the result of the tests, this prototype of overload prevention module is able to run its functions to control the load of the vehicle and prevent the vehicle from overload. text
