Summary: | Leachate as a result of bioconversion of organic waste by the Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larvae or Hermetia illucens (L.) can be used as an organic fertilizer and nutrient solutions in the Nutrient film technique (NFT) hydroponic cultivation system. This study aims to determine the influence of microorganisms in the BSF leachate on the growth of pakcoy (Brassica rapa var. Nauli). This leachate is used as a nutrient solution beside AB mix in the NFT hydroponic system with sequential treatment variables as follows: AB mix 100% (control), AB mix 60% + leachate 40%, AB mix 50% + leachate 50%, AB mix 40% + leachate 60%, and leachate 100%. In this study the NFT system used five gutters along four meters, each gutter consisted of 21 holes connected by one water source for one treatment. The results of this study indicate that all treatments have microorganisms, with 60% AB mix + 40% leachate treatment having the smallest amount of change. The most dominant microbe is Pseudomonas sp. as much as 41% of the total population and the most dominant fungi are Aspergillus sp. at 24% of the total population. Pseudomonas sp. has a function as a producer of antibiotics, dissolve phosphate, nitrification, and decompose organic material. Meanwhile, Aspergillus sp. can decompose synthetic pesticide, break down cellulose, dissolve phosphate, and produce Indol Acetyl Acetate (IAA). AB mix 60% + 40% leachate treatment is the best treatment than others with an average yield of plant height of 21.06 cm, number of leaves as many as 15 strands, fresh weight of 91.4 grams, dry weight of 6.02 grams , the total amount of chlorophyll is 10.49 mg / L, vitamin C content is 46.11 mg / 100 gr, and fiber content is 0.49%. Statistically the treatment of AB mix 60% + leachate 40% is not significantly different from the best treatment which is 100% AB mix and according to the Tukey grouping test they are still in one group. Based on this study it can be inferred that the treatment of AB mix 60% + 40% leachate is the best mix composition that can be used as a substitution of AB mix in a hydroponic system to reduce production costs. |
