Network devices to support SDN (Software-Defined Networking) are more expensive than general network devices. Using virtualization technology in OvS (Open vSwitch), an ordinary computer can be used as substitute networking devices that have the same function with switch or router supporting SDN. However, a computer with Open vSwitch technology can change into only one switch or one router, thus OvS has limitation from the flexibilities. Based on that condition, it was developed another technology as the Open vSwitch complement, that is OVN (Open Virtual Network). OVN used virtualization technology by building a new virtualization network layer (overlay network) above the network that already exists (underlay network). By using OVN in a computer can build some network devices in same time, so the complex network can be built and set easily. The conclusion is OVN can significantly improve the flexibility of OvS network. Nowadays, OVN technology is still studied and developed. This final task is aimed at studying the working mechanism of OVN so that can be used to communicate the L2/L3 network. The method of this study used a literature study and experiment.
