DESIGN OF FOOD WASTE TREATMENT USING ANAEROBIC DIGESTER IN KOTA BARU PARAHYANGAN RESIDENTIAL AREA
Abstract: Every day, as many as 14,938 tons of solid waste/day are produced from the three domestic sources in Kota Baru Parahyangan, which are settlements, shops, and commercial areas. Based on its composition, food waste has a composition of 45.31%. From the sampling results, the number of solid...

Based on its composition, food waste has a composition of 45.31%. From the sampling results, the number of solid waste generation in the residential area of Kota Baru Parahyangan is 2,045 L/person/day and 0.511 kg/person/day. However, the solid waste generation used for this design are based on the design literature, which is 3 L/person/day and 0.6kg/person/day for settlements with high income levels. Characteristics of food waste in KBP were obtained through laboratory tests and showed a value of water content of 67.316%, solid content of 32.684%, volatile content of 90.444%, ash content of 9.554%, C-organic content of 62.79%, nitrogen content of 4,615% and a C/N ratio of 13.605%. Population projections are carried out until 2035 where the second stage of development of KBP is planned to be completed. Based on the capacity scenario using waste minimization and sorting at the source which gradually reach 15% from 2%, the estimated generation of waste in 2035 is 38.539 tons / day. Pure food waste that must be processed is 15.72 tons/day. So that waste can be processed biologically, the addition of wood chips as much as 3.4 tons / day is done to achieve the optimal C / N ratio, which is 25: 1. Mixing the two ingredients as a substrate decreases the water content. This can be overcome by leachate recirculation. The construction of anaerobic digester facilities is divided into two stages, namely stage I (up to 2025) and stage II (up to 2035). Alternative reactor designs proposed are Biocel, Valorga, Kompogas, and Dranco. Determination of the chosen alternative is done using the Simple Additive Weighting method with sixteen criteria covering economic, technical, and environmental aspects by giving a scale of one to four to assess each alternative. From this assessment, the chosen alternative is Dranco with the closest score of 1, which is 0.897. Pure food waste which is a processing burden is 15,717 tons / day. To process this amount of waste, 8 anaerobic digester reactors are required with a diameter of 6 meters with a total height of 7.7 meters. text |
