The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of climatic elements on the level of infestation by brown planthopper on rice plantation in Jawa Barat Province. Climatic elements are used in this research is temperature, relative humidity, rainfall as the independent variable (x) and area infested by brown planthopper as the dependent variable (y). A quadratic regression were used for the analysis. Quadratic regression analysis is used to express the relationship between the area infested and the climatic elements. In this study also seen the effect of wind on the distribution of brown planthopper. Based on quadratic regression analysis, temperature is the most influential climate parameter with R2 value of 34% in DJF, 15.8% in MAM, 16.4% in JJA and 6% in SON. Humidity has a significant effect on SON with R2 40% and rainfall has a small R2 so it cannot be shown that rainfall influences the area of pests significantly. The wind affects the broad distribution of pest attacks in the DJF and JJA periods with an average rate of 2-5 m/s. text |
