Sarung as its main product is very popular throughout Indonesia and several countries in Asia. But the crisis that occurred in 1998 had a major impact on the textile industry in Majalaya. Many textile entrepreneurs are forced to close their production sites not only because of the declining purchasing but also due to the increase in raw material production. Problems also occurred in 2015, when there were millions of sarongs produced by the Majalaya textile industry that was difficult to sell. This is an irony because on the other hand the government and the fashion industry are promoting sarong as a fashion item to be introduced into a world trend. As an effort to empower the textile industry in Majalaya and also to produce quality and desirable products, a study is needed. The study was conducted using a design management analysis approach for sarong product development. Design is an important aspect of product development, also as one of the main criteria in the product selection process by buyers. In this regard, design management is a way that underlies simultaneous linkages between the design, production and marketing processes. By carrying out a design management analysis, it is expected to be able to provide appropriate recommendations for the textile industry in Majalaya to produce quality and attractive products. text
