Development of Locator Point Determination Algorithm in Multipart Workpiece Components in Modular Fixture Based on Dowel-Pin System
The manufacturing process is one of the most important activities in an industry. These activities include the process of adding and applying physical and chemical materials to change the geometric shape of the material or the appearance of the surface in the manufacture of a product. INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/43005 The manufacturing process is one of the most important activities in an industry. These activities include the process of adding and applying physical and chemical materials to change the geometric shape of the material or the appearance of the surface in the manufacture of a product. The manufacturing process is close related to the machining process, which is a process of cutting or forming a raw material with a view to making a product that has value and function. In the machining process there are many tools that are used to support and facilitate a job. One of them is a modular fixture. Modular fixture is a tool for holding workpieces, positioning them proper, and supporting tools during machining or assembly activities. Modular fixture has several components such as locator and clamping. Some previous modular fixture studies have focused on the application of single piece workpieces with the use of relatively many components that are considered less efficient. Therefore, this research tries to apply modular fixture with multipart workpieces by reducing the use of locator and clamping components to make it more efficient. This research includes the development of locator point determination algorithms based on orthogonal projection images, so as to produce relatively few components. This study also developed a mathematical model to determine the optimal workpiece layout without overlapping on each multipart workpiece. text |

The manufacturing process is one of the most important activities in an industry. These activities include the process of adding and applying physical and chemical materials to change the geometric shape of the material or the appearance of the surface in the manufacture of a product.
