The relatively large number of projects and relatively small number of human resources made it difficult for PT X to track their project monitoring data which currently kept in an Excel file. Information system (IS) is one of the solutions to solve the problem stated. Database system can be used to store all data effectively. Meanwhile, Business Intelligence (BI) system can also be used to provide information based on project monitoring data through data analysis, thus the information provided will be dynamic and customizable depends on the business users to help them with decision(s) making. This research aims to design both IS and BI to help the process of project monitoring and controlling. The methodology used is System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) with additional step of prototyping and without the implementation step. The IS is built by designing the (1) IS process modelling, and (2) IS data modelling. The BI is built by designing the (1) data warehouse, (2) extract, transform, load (ETL) process, (3) Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) process, and (4) BI dashboard. The results are prototypes of both IS and BI for project monitoring and controlling. The IS prototype is built using PHP and HTML languages, while the BI prototype is built using Pentaho Community Edition. Then, both prototypes are verified and validated to make sure whether they suit the IS needs and the actual condition of the company. Later, both prototypes are evaluated, and the managerial implications are also concluded as further steps need to be considered if the company wished to implement both IS designs. text |
