Summary: | The growth of small and medium industries (IKM) is increasingly rapid so that it requires supervision from the government. One of the government's efforts in developing and fostering IKM is to provide incentives to develop technology, preserve the environment and encourage these industries to become environmentally friendly through cleaner production systems. The batik industry as one of the IKM which become the main source of income, especially for the people of Cirebon. But the development of the batik industry in Cirebon has not been accompanied by a cleaner production system that can be seen from the absence of sustainable management of air pollution, liquid or solid waste. In the Batik X Industry, from observations there is a process that cause air pollution. The air pollution was identified as containing particulates and hydrocarbon gases such as BTEX which could disrupt workers' productivity and health. The PM2.5 content in the malam-making room, the pelorodan room, the batik and cap room, and the staining room were 9.43 ?g/m3, 3.83 ?g/m3, 109.14 ?g/m3, and 3.53 ?g/m3. Besides that, malam making room contains 0.915 mg/m3 toluene, 0.185 mg/m3 ethylbenzene, and 0.259 mg/m3 xylene. Pelorodan room contains 0.128 mg/m3 xylene, while in the drying room (indoor) it contains 0.288 mg/m3 toluene and 0.123 mg/m3 xylene. From the existence of PM2.5, heavy metals were analyzed. The concentration of hydrocarbon gases and heavy metals particulates were below the TLV while PM2.5 in the pembatikan and pengecapan room exceed the TLV. The determination of alternative solutions is being done to improve the comfort, health and productivity of workers in batik X factory. The chosen alternative is designing a local exhaust ventilation in Batik X Industry. |
