Summary: | Human Resource Management (HRM) has been regarded as one of important assets of the company because it has a role to support the company successes. In carrying out its business activities, not rarely for companies to make organizational changes to adapt to the development of the environment and technology, one example is by restructuring. Organizational restructuring needs to be accompanied by a readjustment of the job description for the position and workload for each position of the company. Likewise, organization restructuring that had just been carried out at PT Pindad (Persero) in early 2017. PT Pindad (Persero) is one of the State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) that provides military equipment to support national defense and security. This research will focus on job analysis and workload analysis conducted at the Quality System and HSE Department of PT Pindad (Persero) post restructuring. This research aims to measure the workload level of employees of Quality System and HSE Department of PT Pindad (Persero) and determine the optimal number of employees for each position in the department.
Job analysis conducted in this research is a task-based job analysis through interview technique. NASA-TLX method is used to measure the mental workload of employees. In addition, work sampling method is used to determine the use of employee productive work time and Full Time Equivalent (FTE) is used to measure employee workload and determine the optimal number of employees for each position in the Quality System and HSE Department of PT Pindad (Persero).
The results showed that employees of Quality System and HSE Department of PT Pindad (Persero) have high levels of mental workload. However, the average use of employee productive time for all positions is still relatively low compared to the determined working time standards. Based on the FTE score calculation, there are four positions in the Quality System and HSE Department that have workload in the underload category, one position has workload in the normal category, and three positions have workload in the overload category. By using the average FTE, a difference is obtained between the number of existing employees and the optimal number of employees, that shows seven people of employees are needed. By knowing the optimal number of employees in accordance with the results of the workload analysis conducted, the performance improvement of the Quality System and HSE Department of PT Pindad (Persero) is expected. |
