INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/43076 Environment infrastrucure development in Indonesia is being motivated to increase its quality and quantity over time. This motivation comes from the nation’s internal and external concerns about water and sanitation. One of the major problems in Indonesia is solid waste management, especially solid waste landfills. To this day, many landfills in Indonesia are still using open dumping methods rather than other methods that are recommended, such as controlled landfill or even sanitary landfill. The method of open dumping is highly regarded to be the leading cause of polution caused by landfill sites and it is banned by government regulations. To fix this problem, the Ministry of Public Works regulated that open dumping landfill sites that are proven to be a problem for its surroundings have to be rehabilitated and closed. The first landfill rehabilitation is held in Bali, specifically in TPA Sarbagita located in Suwung. Landfill Capping, Rehabilitation, and Post Operation Design in TPA Bantargebang is another effort to close and rehabilitate landfills that have reached over capacity and could harm the landfill’s environment and its surroundings. The rehabilitation design includes the calculation of the stability of soil, compressibility of solid waste landfill, the design of leachate and flare pipes, the design of the site’s rain water drainage, coversoil works, and buffer zone and landscaping management. The writer hopes that this rehabilitation proses will be the foundation of a new era of environmental infrastructure in futures to come. text |
