One factor that could affect the amount of waste generated by an area is the total population. Population growth that is not balanced with an increase in the quality of waste management facilities will have an impact on increasing the potential of negative impact to the environment. Waste sorting from the source is one of the initial step that can provide easier access on solid waste management, while the ITB - Jatinangor has not implemented any sorting of waste so all types of waste are still mixed before being collected to IPST (Integrated Waste Management Installation). Therefore, the construction plan of an Self-Collecting Deposit Area is planned to facilitate waste segregation at the ITB - Jatinangor before further management and to increase the potential for the recycling of wastes that still have use values. The re-design of the waste collection system at ITB - Jatinangor is also carried out by designing a waste container with a capacity detection system that aims to make the collection system more effective and efficient. In this design, 25% of the waste generation will be accommodated by the self -collection deposit area while 75% of the waste generation will be accommodated in the fill-level sensor bin. Based on the calculation plan, the area of the self-collection deposit area is 52 m2 and the number of fill-level sensor is 4 bin with capacity 660 Liter for each bin. text |
