INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/43112 As a commitment to become the regency of conservation, Kuningan regency developed Kuningan Botanical Garden as center of conservation, education, research and eco-tourism. Since its inauguration in 2015, Kuningan Botanical Garden (KBG) have a lot of thematic collections such as Bamboo’s park, Mango park, and Yellow park. To support conservation function of Kuningan Botanical Garden, information such as bird’s diversity are critical but poorly studied here. Thus, the goal of this research is to find out the diversity of birds. As much as 9 points/plot (distance between plots at least 250 meters) were scattered purposively to observe birds. Observation was done in one month using point count method with 10 minutes interval for one hour in morning and afternoon. Morphologic characters (feather colors, beak shape, and body size) were observed to identify the bird species. “Shannon-Wiener(H’)” diversity index was used to measure diversity. Habitat type and condition of each plot were used to further analyze bird diversity. There are 21 species of birds (17 family) in KBG with diversity index as much as 1.87. All birds in KBG are not protected by the government except Ictinaetus malaiensis or black eagle. Plot 7 are the plot with most species’ abundance (13 species) while plot 3 are the least (8 species). Most of the birds in KBG are insectivore such as Amaurornis phoenicurus, Artamus leucorynchus, and Perricrocotus cinnamomeus, followed by granivore such as Lonchura leucogastroides, Lonchura punctulata, dan Streptopelia chinensis. Cave swiftlets (Collocalia linchi) are the most predominant with dominance index of 40.99%. text
