Description
Summary:Turbine is one component of a hydroelectric power plant. One of the turbines used in hydropower in Indonesia is the Francis turbine. However, many of Francis's turbines that are used, experience problems about the relatively short life of the guide vane. Necessary of many guide vane causes high maintenance cost because the component imported from other country. To overcome this problem, independent production of guide vane components can be done by imitating the damaged guide vane. After the imitation and production engineering process, the geometry measurement process needs to be carried out to make sure the produced guide vane complies with the designed specifications. Because of that reason, this undergraduate assignment discusses the design of a geometry measurement system for the produced guide vane. Solution of the problem wiil be achieved through measuring sample of Francis turbine guide vane. Next, measurement results are processed to be compared with reference, so it can be determined whether the guide vane meets the geometry specifications or not. The final result of this undergraduate assignment is measurement methods that divided into two, namely measurement using conventional measuring instruments for basic feature and measurement using a 3D laser scanner for airfoil profile. Furthermore, the measurement results are conventionally inputted on the report table quality check, while the scan results with a 3D laser scanner are processed using Geomagic Control X software.
