DRAINAGE SYSTEM PLANNING FOR FLOOD MITIGATION DEVELOPMENT AT SAMARINDA ULU DISTRICT, SAMARINDA
Samarinda City is a relatively very sloping area, the result of sedimentation from the Mahakam River inundation due to events in the macro drainage system in the form of confluence of upstream and downstream boundary conditions, namely the Mahakam watershed which is affected by equatorial and tidal...

Samarinda Ulu District is one of the flood-prone areas that is affected by the condition of one of the Mahakam River tributaries, namely Karang Asam Kecil watershed. Karang Asam Kecil watershed as a micro drainage system has flooding problems due to natural and human factors. One of the causes of flooding is the lack of capacity of receiving water bodies, especially estuary areas that are affected by the backflow of the Mahakam River. Micro drainage system has a discharge in the estuary area reaching 43.5 m3/s for a 10-year return period with a water level elevation of +1.9 m. On the other hand the receiving water body in the Mahakam River has an elevation of +2.7 m for maximum tidal conditions with a discharge of the Mahakam River for a 20-year return period. Appropriate treatment is to build long storage type polders through river normalization and the creation of a 700 meter embankment from the estuary with the completeness of a flood gate and pump with a capacity of 19 m3/s. text |
