Summary: | The Port of Kuala Tanjung is directly adjacent to the Malacca Strait and has easy access to Malaysia and Singapore. For this reason, a container terminal was developed at the Port of Kuala Tanjung, North Sumatra. For port functions to be maximized, there needs to be a good operational plan. So in this final project the operational plan of the container terminal is designed at the Port of Kuala Tanjung.
The plan of operation is based on the dimensions of the plan in the Port of Kuala Tanjung’s Master Plan issued by the Ministry of Transportation without structural loading. The aspects that will be designed consist of designing the operating plan at the pier, container yard, and horizontal transportation. The design at the pier includes the design of moorings by considering the depth of the waters and the total and type of loading and unloading equipment. Designing in the container yard includes the design of container blocks and the total and type of handling equipment. The design for horizontal transportation includes the type and total of transportation equipment. From the design carried out, the capacity of the pier and container yard will be calculated for the Kuala Tanjung Port Container Terminal.
In addition to designing terminal plan, capital costs per container and handling system are also considered. In this final project, service costs per container are calculated, which must be applied every year for a period of 20 years.
