MARCH 2019 FLOOD ANALYSIS USING DEPTH AREA DURATION (DAD) METHOD (CASE STUDY: THE UPPER CITARUM WATERSHED)
The Upper Citarum Watershed is a main area in Bandung basin landscape. The problem of flooding in this region is common because almost every year it happens, especially in the rainy season. Areas that are often affected by floods coincide in the lowlands i.e Dayeuhkolot and Baleendah. In March 2019,...

The problem of flooding in this region is common because almost every year it happens, especially in the rainy season. Areas that are often affected by floods coincide in the lowlands i.e Dayeuhkolot and Baleendah. In March 2019, flooding occurred in a fairly long duration and widespread inundation in 10 districts in Bandung regency. In this study, the Depth Area Duration (DAD) was performed to determined the maximum rainfall depth spatially in various areas with a certain duration using Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) Final Precipitation data. The long duration of flood analysis was divided into 2 different time zones i.e based on observational flow hydrographs, before and after March 7 2019, for which the peak flow had reached the highest level during March 2019. The results showed that the long duration of flood incident in March 2019 in Upper Citarum Watershed was due to an increased in maximum rainfall depth in duration of 2 days before peak flow on March 7 2019 for areas 1 to 9 grids and duration 24 hours for areas 9 to 49 grid that had the most significant value or extreme. The maximum rainfall depth is 73,5 mm for 24 hours and 108,3 mm for 2 days, in the area of 1 grid. text |
