Summary:This research aims to look at the characteristic of rain precipitation which cause long duration flood in Baleendah, West Java. Baleendah in 2019 experienced long duration flood, it is evident that the surface of the water is above critical point from February 9th – March 12th, 2019 which identify that flood happened. Based on the rain precipitation analysis in all upstream Citarum watershed that empties to Baleendah, it was found that there was time difference of the rainfall between North, South, and East area, and there was two times of peak rainfall within a day when the flood happened. Based on that point, we did a rainfall skenario using Hydrologic Engineering Center’s Hydrologic Model System (HEC-HMS) with assumption that the rain volume for one day is constant, the skenario used is 1) diurnal skenario in which there is time difference of the rainfall in North, South, and East area, 2) rainfall skenario with variation of semidiurnal and diurnal, and 3) short semidiurnal (the interval between rainfall in afternoon and morning getting shortened) in North, South, and East area of upstream Citarum watershed which empties to Baleendah. The research shows that the flood will be longer, and the peak discharge will be bigger if diurnal pattern happened, in which the rainfall initiated in Eastern, Southern, while Northern area experience delay.
