As a result, Indonesia often hit by disasters such as volcano, earthquake, land slide, flood, etc. The disasters that occurred certainly have an impact on the destruction of telecommunication infrastructure in disaster areas. Therefore, device that can provide telecommunication services are needed so that victim still communicate about their condition even though communication is limited. This limitation is to inform their condition in the form of news delivery services via SMS and voice communication that can only be done with rescuer. Device developed by this capstone project is a cellular-based portable BTS (Base Transceiver Station) named PETS (Portable Emergency Transceiver Station). PETS can be easily deployed in disaster area on vehicle. PETS is equipped by GPS receiver to record the trail that has been traversed. PETS’ recorded position will able to estimate victim’s area whose communication device (HP) associated with PETS. After testing, PETS can serve telephone and SMS, track and estimate the victims area. PETS telephone and SMS services reach up to a radius of 109.6m. PETS's track recorded will be precise after adding a correction factor of 0.3562548 for latitude and 0.2441379 for longitude. text |
