Description
Summary:This research was conducted to determine the effect of pressure press on the quality of the composite plastic bark of Gmelina bark (Gmelina arborea Roxb.) With a particle size of 40-60 mesh and recycled polypropylene plastic (RPP). Maleic anhydride (MAH) was used in this study as a concentration of 5% by weight of the matrix. RPP is used as a matrix, and gmelina bark powder is used as a filler with variations in the composition of the ratio between the filler and the matrix used is 40:60. The pressure press variations used were 20 kg / cm2, 25 kg / cm2 and 30 kg / cm2. The control treatment was carried out without giving MAH and pressed at a pressure press of 30 kg / cm2 at 170 ? for 4 minutes. The research method used is an experimental method with 3 treatments with 4 repetitions. Test analysis was carried out with the Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) test and Duncan's follow-up test. The standard applied in this study is based on JIS A 5908-2003 standards. The results of the physical test showed the lowest KA value was 7.13%, the highest density was 0.9 g / cm3, the thickness was 0.087%, the water absorption was 4.13% and the lowest volume was 4.72%, and the power the lowest water absorption by 0.77%. Then for the mechanical test the highest MoR (Modulus of Rupture) value was 94.46 kg / cm2. MoE value (Modulus of Elasticity) is 10373.39 kg / cm2 and the highest tensile strength is 17.81 kg / cm2. From the results of physical and mechanical tests, the best press pressure is the press pressure of 30 kg / cm2. The characteristics of the test affected by the press pressure of 30 kg / cm2 are water content, density, volume shrinkage, water absorption, thick development, MoR and MoE. While the tensile strength is not affected by the press pressure of 30 kg / cm2.
