Description
Summary:National oil needs in 2017 were 55.4 million barrels. The effort to reduce oil demand is done by increasing the supply of New and Renewable Energy from 13.3% in 2018 with BBN 5%. This study examines the addition of rice husk in the oil extraction process with flexible single screw extruder. Previous research on nyamplung oil extraction with flexible single screw extruder produced the highest oil yield of 53.10%. Addition of rice husk in the extraction process can provide greater pressure and friction in the screw so that the yield increases and the quality is better. In this study the raw material input was modified by the addition of rice husk. Rice husk is currently widely used to fillers in cement and solid fuels. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of rice husk addition on the yield and quality of oil produced from nyamplung seed extraction process with flexible single screw extruder, analyze mass balance and power needs in oil extraction of nyamplung seeds with a flexible single screw extruder and to evaluate the potential of nyamplung oil as a fuel substitute for diesel. Flexible single screw extruder with screw configuration T66/F16/I41/I41/I41/I41/I41/F16/F10 had volume of 436 cm , and optimal operating conditions at rotational speeds of 25 rpm, barrel temperature 75°C, 627 holes of filter sheath and 5 mm material size. The mass ratio of nyamplung seeds to rice husks tested in this study was 1: 0.02, 1: 0.04, 1: 0.06, and 1: 0.08. Oil extraction with the addition of rice husk at a mass ratio of 1: 0.08 of the highest yield, (63.2%). Oil with the highest yield will analyze the physicochemical characteristics of nyamplung oil after purification including acid number, saponification number, and iodine number. The results have met the Dirjen EBTKE SNI 7182: 2015 are acid numbers 0.145 mg KOH/g oil and iodine number 83.75 g I2/100 g oil with viscosity 11,56 mm ii 2/s. The quality and quantity of oil produced by adding rice husk with nyamplung significantly increased. Production costs required are Rp. 29.569/liter with assuming an increase in production scaleto 1 ton.
