Description
Summary:The potential of geothermal power is currently being developed and utilized as an alternative energy source. Therefore, the presence of thermal sources in natural or artificial opening holes, of course, gives a significant influence on the geomechanical parameters of the rocks around the area. This research will discuss the effect of heating with varying temperatures on the results of testing the uniaxial compressive strength and mineral composition of limestone. The results obtained from the study indicate the effect of heating on temperature variations on the uniaxial compressive strength of limestone. Based on the results of carried out, an increase in compressive strength in rock samples when heating takes place along with an increase in temperature ranging from 100oC to 300oC. Whereas in the sample after heating there was an increase in uniaxial compressive strength at a temperature of 100oC and then there was a decrease with increasing temperatures of 200oC and 300oC. The XRD test results showed an increase in the composition of the mineral calcite and there was no change of minerals in the limestone content.
