GAS PRODUCT ANALYSIS OF COAL HEATING TESTING IN MODELING UNDERGROUND COAL GASIFICATION ON LABORATORY SCALE

Underground Coal Gasification is a method used to convert layers of underground coal into gas products commonly called synthetic gas through a combustible chemical process without conventional mining processes. The UCG concept was first developed in the UK which was developed by the Soviet Union...

The UCG concept was first developed in the UK which was developed by the Soviet Union in the UCG field test which was used as a power plant. In Indonesia itself, UCG has begun to be read by Tekmira, but there are still very few publications about UCG. Therefore it is necessary to conduct research on the scale of the UCG Laboratory to conduct an analysis of the product of the Gasification scale underground coal test results needed to produce research for the research scale. The UCG test begins with sample preparation which begins with laboratory-scale coal gasification testing. There are 2 coal samples used in the test, namely Sub-bituminous Coal from Kalimantan (Test X) and Bituminus Coal from Sawahlunto (Test Y-1 and Y-2). Initial combustion is carried out by flowing propane gas into the reactor tube using a burner. Then use a mixture of oxygen gas and compressed air to keep the fire burning. After the flame starts to stabilize and gas comes out of the combustion results, gas sampling is taken using a suction pump which will be stored in a tedlar bag. The combustion gas product will be carried out using syngas using the Gas Chromatography tool for CH4, CO2 and CO gas concentrations. Based on the tests that have been carried out, the largest CH4 gas is 351.39 ppm (Bituminus Coal Test Y-2 (1)) and the largest CO gas concentration is 10.100.70 ppm (Bituminus Coal Test Y-2 (1)). With CO 2 gas concentrations for all tests in the range 149.55 ppm (Test Y-2 (1)) to 257.52 ppm (Test Y-2 (2)). The results showed that the tests conducted Y-2 Test (Bituminus Coal confined testing conditions) had the best conditions with high CH4 and CO gas composition and CO2 gas in accordance with the average value. text
