Cold storage is room for preservation, refrigeration and freezing agricultural, farming and fishery product with purpose to prevent degradation of product quality before distributed to market. in this research, cold storage is focused for beef storage with storage temperatur arround of -25oC. This final project contains perfomance evaluation and simulate a cold storage system. Perfomance evaluation steps consists of data collection, cooling load calculation, equipment selection, system selection, and refrigerant selection. The selection of equipment such as compressors and condensers is done by selecting several compressor catalogs. The evaporator was designed manually and using Guntner software. The selection of refrigerants was carried out to obtain refrigerants that were expected to have high efficiency, economical, and environmentally friendly. The results show that ammonia refrigerant is the best used in this cold storage system. The simulation results show that the operating point of the cold storage system works when the evaporator temperature and condenser temperature are -32.97C, power are 122.86 kW, cooling capacity are 256.14 kW, and the COP value for design conditions is 2.53. text
