This reader module was designed for SELFO (Self-Ordering Machine for Canteen). SELFO is a self-order and self-payment machine designed to replace the traditional canteen system. Based on the interviews and surveys that have been done within canteens around ITB, there are three problems about traditional canteen system. First, a difficulty to find an exact amount of change money for transactions. Second, buying order forms requires sellers to spend extra expense. Third, manual recapitulation can be troublesome according to the sellers. SELFO were designed to solve these problems. SELFO uses smartcard-based digital payment to remove the need of physical change money, interactive menu based on a touchscreen to remove the order form, and the order data will be saved digitally to help the seller with the recapitulation. One of SELFO component is a reader module. This module is used to read two contact smartcards, one customer’s smartcard and one SAM. The customer’s smartcard contains data ID, balance, and verification key code. The module will read these data and use them for transaction purposes. text
