Summary: | Information system is one of the information technology products that is commonly used by many individuals or organizations. A way to improve the performance of information system is to use the log produced by the system. A log is a record that contains information about all activities that occur throughout a running system. In the case study that is raised in this Final Project, the condition of the existing log is that it has a variety of different types of formats and is stored in a variety of different sources. Therefore, the main objective of this Final Project is to develop a solution to manage logs in an integrated system and to use the information provided by the log effectively. There is also an additional requirement that will be provided through this Final Project, which is providing a feature to track certain user activities.
In this Final Project, the analysis is carried out based on the given data, to wit, the log of the academic information system of Institut Teknologi Bandung. The results of data analysis along with the existing requirements are made as the reference for designing solution. The proposed solution is to collect information from the varied and distributed log data in one place and join them. The final result of the solution is in the form of a dashboard containing data visualizations that display the information.
There are two types of testing done to examine the developed solution in this Final Project, usability testing and User Acceptance Test (UAT). The testing is executed by participants that represent people who work and/or have experience as system administrators. The obtained result from the testing is that the solution is built well enough to be used by general users and is sufficient to meet all the initial requirements. |
