The order transaction of a Pinisi could affects the structural design of the boat, and the tradition value that has been preserved for ages by the Konjo people. The social value which should be the cultural reflection of the Konjo people is now slowly fading. Documentary film is a media to deliver information and reality. It also have a capability to communicate persuasively in order to influence the audience’s mind. Oftenly in a film media, the use of visual rhetoric in delivering thoughts or ideas is to be more persuasive. One way to simplify the ideas is to use visual metaphor. Sometime there is reality that cannot be visually represented, thus we need visual metaphor to display it. This research is a documentary film design using critical ethnography method. Visual rhetoric & visual metaphor that applied in the design process, resulting the successful display of reality and symbolic meaning of Konjo people in the way of their traditional value and the spirit of building Pinisi ship has changed. Based on the researchs, the success of a documentary film is defined by the level or reality, visual rhetoric composition, and the way it delivers the content about the shifting tradition. The documentary film also demanded to change the audience perception of Konjo people and the spirit of Pinisi boat. text |
