DESIGN OF BOTRAM SPACE IN COMMUNAL AREA OF CINGISED HOME WITH DESIGN BIOPHILIC APPROACH AS THE RESIDENT'S EFFORTS TO ACHIEVE CULTURAL VALUES

Bandung as one of the most populated city after Jakarta constrain the government to change the pattern of residential development from horizontal to vertical (apartment). Apartment become a modern product in the housing sector, which can accommodate many residents in one place and is required to be able to accommodate the needs of the community to socialize and get along with neighbors well. Whereas what happens in apartment in general, including in Cingised tower 5 apartment, socializing spaces cannot be optimally fulfilled, so that there is a confliict between the apartment standard with the social behavior of the resident. The object of this research study is Cingised apartment tower 5, where there is an interesting activity in the form of the Botram phenomenon which is the highest intensity activity in the communal space of the apartment. As a native culture and has become a habit of the Sundanese community from previous dwelling, Botram activities in the apartment communal space become important, in addition to being a forum for the community to establish relationships and react to the environtment, there is also residents interests to pursue the spirit of Botram, the inctinctive behavior to have a connection with the natural environment or the room with natural atmosphere as an effort to reduce pressure of residence in a highrise building. This habit was confirmed by the behavior of the apartment resident who prefer Botram and spaces in the eastern lobby area, this is due to the natural feel potential on the eastern side of the building in the form of hills and rice fields scenery. Therefore, research on the design of Botram space in the apartment communal space with Biophilic design approach is needed in an effort to create space with Botram spirit. The method used was a qualitative research in the form of a design thinking methods that gradually emphasize, define, and ideate. The design thinking stages are carried out descriptively and theoretically through decomposition in the form of exposure to problem objects found in Cingised Apartment, Biophilic designs which are described schematically in the form of photographs, images, moodboards and digital sketches. The strategy of designing with Biophilic design elements into Botram space is expexted to be able to achieve the spirit and values of Botram in the built environment of apartment that resident trying to achieved nowadays. With this research, the need for social space areas in apartment, especially for Botram activities, can be well facilitated and in the future it can be continued and developed with further research.
