Nonetheless, this approach has to be carried out along with the process of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) that requires significant amount of time, inflexible to the changes of the data sources, and the needs of the materialization of phyisical data warehouse. The format of the data sources that will be the subject of this research is flat files and specifically CSV (Comma Separated Values) which is still widely used by various institutions. An approach called OBDA (Ontology-Based Data Analysis) which combines the approach of ontology and data virtualization will be used in this study. Ontology enable the relationship among the data sources to be defined semantically according to the needs while data virtualization enable data sources to be accessed and queried over a view that does not need materialization (virtualized), which the view will use the ontology that has already been defined earlier. The aim is to enable OLAP analysis to be carried out against the data sources without having to perform physical integration of the data sources by utilizing the approach mentioned. text |
