Summary: | The slope based automatic handbrake model with Luenberger observer is a system
designed to demonstrate how automatic handbrake works on flat, downhill, and uphill road
using Luenberger observer to estimate the road slope. The handbrake system is made to
function automatically with hill-hold and hill-assist features to help the driver. The road slope
is estimated with Luenberger observer so the system does not need a tilt sensor.
The purpose of this research is to design an automatic handbrake model, design a
control system, and identify the Luenberger observer’s parameter to make the model is able
to demonstrate how the actual automatic handbrake system works. This study was conducted
by designing a control system, electrical system, and mechanical system on a model of
automatic hand brake system based on a road slope. The control system uses Luenberger
observer method to estimate the road slope without need to add sensors to the vehicle.
Proportional close-looped also used as control action. The electrical system uses DC motor
as actuators for modelling the vehicle engine, road slope, and automatic. The mechanical
system is made as model and aids for electrical components’ placement.
The results of this study are automatic handbrake system model and control system
performance that is able to provide hill-hold and hill assist features such as a real automatic
handbrake system. The performance obtained is in form of the Luenberger observer response
to estimate road slope model and the braking torque response that make the vehicle does not
slip on certain road slope. The test is carried out with three categories of road slope, that is
flat, downhill and uphill road. |
