INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/43772 Some petroleum wells that are no longer productive have heat in their formation rocks. Those heat can be extracted and utilized by injecting working fluid to the wellbore. These study goals are to create a numerical calculation program for transient flow temperatures that occur in parts of the well in two dimensions, compare the results with reference results, and use the program to calculate the temperature distribution in oil and gas fields in Indonesia. The injected fluids can be modelled as heat exchanger. The heat exchanger used in the wellbore model is double-pipe heat exchanger. Heat transfer processes inside wellbore are in the form of convection in the inner pipe and in the annulus and conduction in the pipe walls and rock formations. The calculation was done anatically and computationally used finite different method. The computation results have been compared with calculations from references using the WELLTHER calculation program. After being validated, the program was then used to calculate the temperature distribution for the Arun field, BK Area, Sungai Gelam, Bungin Batu, and Tambora. From this study results, it was found that the fluid in annulus numerical case 2 can reach temperatures between 130°C-160°C and in annulus numrical case 3 between 80°C-90°C. These results, when compared with the reference, found that the current results have similar temperature range with the references but has different profiles shape with an average deviation of 12%. At the Arun and Tambora fields simulation results were found that the two fields could reach temperatures between 90°C-120°C and classified as the moderate-temperature geothermal source.Whereas the BK Area, Sungai Gelam, and Bungin Batu fields can reach temperatures between 50°C-80°C and classified as the low-temperature geothermal source. text |
