The biggest issue occurred in two things, in the event of resistance of relocation and failure of the settlers ' adaptation in the new residence. Some concepts and studies of relocation have shown that there are three factors determining the success of the relocation factor: social interaction factor, household economy, and living environment. In addition, there are three forms of post-relocation adaptation, that is: adaptation by adjustment), by reaction, and the failure of the adaptation or by withdrawal. This research aims to: 1) know the stages of the relocation process of the settlers; 2) Identify factors influencing the resistance and acceptance of the community in the relocation process; and 3) identify the process of adaptation settle after relocation. For this purpose researchers use the relocation case of the resettlement of the Cikapundung Riverside to the comunal housing, which has been converted into Teras Balai Besar Wilayah Sungai (BBWS) Cikapundung, Lebak Siliwangi, City of Bandung. Data collection is done through of the whole settlers affected by the relocation program. Data analysis using techniques: 1) historical analysis to determine the chronology of the relocation program; and 2) direct content analysis is used to determine the factors affecting the acceptance and resistance of relocation and the pattern of settlement adaptation. Based on the study, it was concluded that there were two new factors: the rules and policy factors, and the religious factors in addition to the previous three conceptual factors. Furthermore, in this case there proved to be three forms of adaptation as the previous study. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to adding knowledge about the arrangement of illegal settlements that can be accepted by the community and sustainable urban development. text
