One of the alternative solutions that could resolve this problem is through community development by increasing development in the tourism sector. Through its multiplier effect, tourism could accelerate economic growth and provide new job opportunities. The condition of Indonesia, which has a very high level of natural disaster exposure, makes the development of natural tourism destinations inseparable from disaster mitigation. To minimize risks arising from disasters, efforts are needed to improve the safety of tourists at the destination and people living around the area. Jorong Pasia Tiku, located in Tanjung Mutiara District, is one of the disaster-prone areas in Indonesia that is planned to be developed into a tourism area. The development plan of this tourism area must be in the interest of empowering the coastal community. Therefore, the environmental arrangement for the fishing community in Jorong Pasia Tiku will be developed into a tourist village. This project, which will be built on 117,000 m2 of land, houses 150 homestays, a traditional hall, a workshop building, a production area, and a restaurant. The approach used in the design is oriented to community resilience and human security as a tourism agent. The design strategy used is resilient design architecture. In this thesis, several design methods are used to implement the Resilient Design Architecture design strategy, such as design methods through (1) design approach, (2) contextual approach, and (3) functional approach. The design method through the design approach uses design techniques that adopt the values of the Minangkabau Coastal Traditional Architecture which are then transformed according to the needs of the community and the development of design technologies based on natural disaster mitigation. The design method through a contextual approach uses analysis and discussion techniques regarding the design site and the context of the environment around the site. While the design method through a functional approach uses analysis techniques to users and tourism village activities. The main concept of this design is associated with the philosophy of life of the Minangkabau as a big idea and a guideline for achieving resilient life. To embody the resilient architectural design, three main categories must be considered, which are environmental resilience, building design resilience, and socio-economic resilience. These three factors are used as the base for enhancing the design concept The result of the tourism village model is a manifestation of a resilient design strategy that can enhance the economic, ecological, social and cultural values of coastal communities, and is an example for the realization of resilient architectural designs in various disaster-prone areas in Indonesia. text
