Water hyacinth is a water plant that is very difficult to eradicate. This is due to the
rapid growth of water hyacinth and high survival. Besides water hyacinth can cause a
decrease in the discharge of open water surface water (such as lakes, swamps, rivers
or other watery areas) up to 4 times and can cause siltation in these aqueous areas.
The use of water hyacinth in this study is intended to produce textiles from threedimensional
water hyacinth textiles. The expected results of this study create clothing
that meets consumer interests and can be accepted by Indonesian people through
processing water hyacinth fibers.
The design of women's clothing uses natural hyacinth fiber to produce threedimensional
textile structures using a qualitative and quantitative approach (mix
method) and through an experimental process of materials. The design of this
women's dress uses a material exploration approach by using the keper technique and
the natural coloring system made from secang wood (Caesalpinia sappan). The idea
of this study is that the potential for very high water hyacinth can be used by small
textile industries in Indonesia as an effort to empower the community
This research is to create a female couture design that is three-dimensional
structured, so that it can appear with high visual appeal and added value. The design
results in the form of clothing are documented with one concept and included in the
fashion show used by art performers as an introduction to new ideas. The results of
this study are also expected to be a learning model for the small and medium textile
industry to be able to produce unique/high quality fashion products. |
