INSTITUT TEKNOLOGI BANDUNG https://digilib.itb.ac.id/gdl/view/43923 The agriculture, forestry and fisheries sector is a fast-growing sector and also one of the sectors with the largest contribution in Indonesia's national Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which is 13.14% (Financial Services Authority, 2018). This is supported by Indonesia's vision of becoming a World Food Barn in 2045. Although the spatial plan in the western part of Indonesia has accommodated the development of agricultural areas as one of the priority sectors, but the decrease in agricultural land area in these islands continues. Whereas the availability of land is one of the determinants of the success of food security, this is expected to cause food insecurity and threaten national stability. Based on previous research, it is known that road infrastructure has a significant effect on decreasing agricultural land area (Huddy, 2016; Azadi et al., 2011; Anugerah, 2005; Pramono, 2015; Suharyanto et al., 2016; Effendi and Asmara, 2014; Mawardi, 2006 ; Butar, 2012). On the other hand, previous research also shows that road infrastructure has a positive impact on the agricultural sector, through increasing access to markets (Tunde and Adeniyi, 2012; Ulimwengu et al., 2009; Lokesha and Mahesha, 2016; Felloni et al, 1999; and Suminar, 2018), decreasing transportation costs (Tarigan and Syumanjaya, 2013; Lokesha and Mahesha, 2016), and added value of the agricultural sector (Purwansyah et al., 2013). This indicates a dualism of views on the effects of road infrastructure on agriculture. For this reason, this study will examine in detail the effects of road infrastructure on the development of agricultural land by classifying roads based on national, provincial and district / city roads that represent road accessibility. This study uses correlational statistical analysis methods with linear regression techniques, and produces that in aggregate, there are two road classifications that significantly affect the development of agricultural land, namely district / city roads. Every 1% increase in district / city road density will reduce the density of agricultural land by 0.225%. In addition to district / city roads, the development of agricultural land is also quite influenced by provincial roads with a negative relationship direction, and national roads with a positive relationship direction, although the effect is not significant. text |
