Description
Summary:This research studies the hydrodynamic and sediment transportation conditions after the reclamation activity in the seawater areas of the PLTU Suralaya by conducting numerical modeling. The study began with the collection of field data including shoreline, bathymetry, tidal water level, sea currents, wind, and sediment condition data. The data was obtained from primary and secondary data. After the data was collected, initial data processing was carried out to obtain the data that needed for the input of the numerical modelling. The research then continued with numerical modeling of hydrodynamics and sediment transportation that was conducted in two scenarios, namely the conditions before reclamation and after reclamation where the main difference lies in the changes of the coastline due to the reclamation. The reliability of the modeling results was reviewed by performing calibration or verification using the water level and current speed observation data then a sensitivity test was also performed to determine the characteristics of the simulation. The hydrodynamic and sediment transportation conditions were analyzed by reviewing several parameters of the simulation results in the form of current speed and direction, significant wave height, and changes in seabed level (bed level change). In addition to comparing the results of the modeling between the reclamation scenario’s, analysis of the modeling results was also carried out at a significant period of each of these parameters. The results of the research showed that after the reclamation there were several changes including the hydrodynamic conditions and the characteristics of sediment transportation at several points of view that determined in the focus area of the study.
