ANALYSIS OF EPITHERMAL HIGH SULPHIDATION GOLD DEPOSITS’ ROCK LEACHATE ON KINETIC TEST

Acid Mine Drainage is water which affected by mining or excavation activities that characterized by high acidity and increase of dissolved metals content, caused by sulfide mineral oxidation with the presence of water. The first step that can be done for managing Acid Mine Drainage is by doing rock geochemical characterization by static and kinetic test as well as analyzing the quality of rock leachate from kinetic test. In this study, geochemical characterization for 10 samples from Epithermal High Sulphidation gold deposits’ rock was carried out. Static test consists of Total Sulfur, Acid Neutralizing Capacity, and NAG pH test, while kinetic test were carried out using the Free Draining Column Leach Test method as long as 365 days, consists of 28 daily cycles, 9 3-day cycles, 8 weekly cycles, 14 two-week cycles, and also 2 monthly cycles. Then, rock leachate was tested, consists of pH, Total Dissolved Solid, Electric Conductivity, Temperature, and volume of rock’s leachate. Along with that, the chemical qualities of rock’s leachate was carried out, consists of anions, cations, and dissolved metals. Based on the data from the tests that have been carried out, there are 7 Non-Acid Forming samples and 3 Potentially-Acid Forming samples. Major anion which dominates the leachate is sulphate, while major cation which dominates the leachate is sodium-pottasium and calcium. For PAF rock samples, there is a correlation where the lower the pH the higher the concentration of dissolved metals, whereas dissolved metal concentrations (Cu, Fe, and Mn) in NAF samples is quite low and tends to be constants text
