Magma intrusion occurs in the subduction zone which penetrates the sedimentary rock layers causing a complex mineralization process. Each mineral has the value in the case of liberation which is influenced by various aspects ranging from the constituent components, genesis, texture, to the type of alteration that occurs in the mineral. Therefore, this research identifies the characteristics of mineral types and their textures and predicts the ease of their liberation. 16 samples were used as samples from drilling results in the Deep Ore Zone (DOZ) mining area of PT. Freeport Indonesia. The method that be used is microscopic observation and X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) which generates mineral names data and the texture characteristics. The results of this study indicate the ore minerals that appear in the observations of mineragraphy are magnetite, pyrite, chalcopyrite, hematite, bornite, kovelite, digenit, and gold, while the associated minerals are plagioclase, biotite, quartz, feldspar, sericite, anhydrite, apatite, brusite, chlorite, pyroxene, quartz, muscovite, and apatite. Based on petrographic observations on 10 samples that were observed showed that there were 7 ore samples that were predicted to be easy liberated, while the other 3 samples were predicted quite difficult to be liberated. Based on observations of ore mineragraphy / microscopy, copper sulphide minerals in the observed samples are predicted to be easily liberated. text
