In the tradition of eating papeda there is "yanggalu" that is used to mix papeda and "hiloi" which is used to eat. In its develepment Sentani People started eating using spoon and fork, this tendency place ""hiloi and yanggalu" in a confusing condition, even the existence of spoon-fork have the potential to shift the existence of hiloi and yanggalu. By seeing this reality, it takes an understanding of how the formation of hiloi and yanggalu, the meaning that exist in hiloi and yanggalu, as well as the efforts needed to preserve hiloi and yanggalu. For that the research was carried out in the residential areas of Sentani People. This study uses a qualitative approach, with a descriptive research design. The research concept begins with general characteristics of Sentani culture. Then focus an the type of staple foods, supporting foods, eating utensils, and the main object of hiloi and yanggalu research and which are essentially food, the analysis is carrie out through the ATUMICS variables in order to obtain the concept of local wisdom as conservation measures for hiloi and yanggalu. Through this approach researchers conducted participant as observer with research subject in the field and tried to understand the problem from the point of view of Sentani in order to obtain objective research results. The results of the study explained that hiloi and yanggalu have been outlined for generation, socialized, internalized, in the lives of individuals and groups as well as the shared identity of Sentani People. Spoon and fork integration is a form of openness in accepting foreign cultures and influencing each other in the lives of modern Sentani People. The application of the ATUMICS method is a way of maintaining and developing value of hiloi and yanggalu. Elements of tradition are still maintained while new material elements are added as a form of directed and planned technological transformation so that the hiloi and yanggalu more quality. Thus the process of revitalizing the "hiloi and yanggalu" in the new form becomes in accordance with the present Sentani. text |
